Milaaq: connecting local job seekers with town businesses — Brand and website design by Abu Bakar Hasan

In regional towns like Pakur, retail shops, pharmacies, supermarkets, and local businesses struggle to hire staff efficiently. Hiring has traditionally depended on handwritten posters taped to shop windows or informal word-of-mouth. Prospective job seekers often walk from store to store without knowing daily wages, expected shift hours, or whether a position is even open.

Milaaq was conceived to solve this local disconnect: a transparent, friction-free job discovery and hiring platform built specifically for tier-3 towns.

Upfront transparency with zero middlemen

Traditional recruitment portals are overloaded with corporate jargon and cumbersome resumes that don't fit neighborhood retail reality. Milaaq rethinks job discovery from the ground up:

  • Upfront compensation: Every listing explicitly states the verified monthly salary or daily pay rate.
  • Clear shift expectations: Working hours, weekly off-days, and key daily responsibilities are visible before applying.
  • Exact store landmarks: Location pins and nearby town landmarks so applicants know their daily commute beforehand.
  • Zero paperwork: Direct contact triggers connect applicants directly with store owners, removing agency intermediaries.

Dual-sided simplicity for job seekers & employers

The interface is engineered around two distinct user flows:

  1. For Job Seekers: A mobile-first search experience where candidates can browse by category (retail, cashier, delivery, helper) and connect with owners with a single tap.
  2. For Store Owners: A simplified posting wizard allowing merchants to publish a vacancy in under two minutes directly from their phones.

Full-stack architecture

Milaaq is structured as a modern TypeScript monorepo combining a high-performance Next.js 15 App Router web application with a lightweight Express API server:

  • Shared contracts: Shared Zod schemas across client and server guarantee end-to-end type safety for job postings and applicant payloads.
  • Performance: Optimized mobile assets and sub-second page transitions tested across low-bandwidth cellular connections.

Current status

The public landing page and applicant flow are built and in staging preparation ahead of initial merchant onboarding in Pakur.
